{Around Town} Halloween Happenings Roundup!

Halloween happenings are in full swing on the South Shore!  Local zoos, shopping malls, children’s museums, nature centers and more are throwing Halloween bashes and holding special trick-or-treat times for the kids.  Check out the list below and mark your calendars for some spooky fun! 

Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular
Roger Williams Park Zoo, Providence RI
October 4th – November 3rd, 6–11pm

Join your family and friends in this amazing experience: a night time display of 5,000 illuminated jack-o-lanterns all along our beautiful wetland trail. Well over 100 of the pumpkins are carved into veritable works of art, and presented in themed scenes with music.

Halloween Horrors at Derby Street Shoppes
Derby Street Shoppes, Hingham
Haunted Hayrides: Oct 18-21 & Oct 25-28 from 7-8:30pm
Halloween Parade and Trick or Treat {held at Magic Beans}: October 28th from 12-1pm
Doggy Costume Contest{held in the center island of the Derby parking lot: October 28th at 1pm

Boo at the Zoo
Buttonwood Park Zoo
October 19-21 & 26-28, 6-9pm
Climb aboard for a spoooooky train ride or take a bewitching carousel ride! Activities and slightly scary fun for all ages! Walk through our Friendly Enchanted Forest or go through our hay maze. Looking for something a little less merry and a little more scary? Dare to walk our Haunted Trail (Best for ages 12+).

Halloween Romp
The Children’s Museum in Easton

Members: $7/person Non-Members: $10/person
Fall under our spell and into your costume at our wicked fun bash, which promises a frightfully fun time for all ages! Held rain or shine at the Museum. Tickets are limited so please call early 508-230-3789

Boo at the Zoo
Stone Zoo, Stoneham
October 20-21, 11am-3pm
The haunted happenings include creature encounters, creepy crafts, ghoulish games, a trick-or-treat trail and the Haunted Maze! Be sure to stop by the main stage to see Radio Disney. The Puppet Showplace Theatre and Catching Joy will also be on site on Saturday, Oct. 20 for puppet-making and Halloween craft

Halloween Party

Halloween Howl
South Shore Natural Science Center, Norwell
Saturday October 27th; 5:30pm-8:30pm
Join us for some ghoulish glee and a not too scary night of family fun. Activities include a pumpkin carving station, children’s activities, and a walk through our decorated “Spooky Woods” and decorated EcoZone museum. Wear a costume if you would like and bring a pumpkin to carve.

Trick-or-Treat Hayrides
Marini Farm, Ipswitch
October 27th, 10am-5pm
Take a Hayride through our fields of wonder. On every stop you will come across scenes of characters waiting to hand out goodies.

Halloween Boo Bash at South Shore Plaza
South Shore Plaza, Macy’s Center Court
Saturday October 27th, 12-3pm
Little ghouls and goblins are invited to enjoy spook-tacular fun at South Shore Plaza to celebrate Halloween! Kids should arrive dressed in costume and be ready for tricks and treats like Halloween Face Painting, Boo-loon Animals, Spooky Music, and Halloween Photo taken by South Shore Plaza’s professional photographer.

Trick-or-Treat at Patriot Place
Patriot Place Activity Center, Foxboro
Saturday October 27th, 2pm
Festivities will begin promptly at 2:00pm at the Patriot Place Activity Center. All trick or treaters will receive a FREE Patriot Place Trick-or-Treat bag

Spooky Zoo, Daytime Fun!

Trick-or-treat at the zoo, plus enjoy music and seasonal entertainment, costumed characters, a magician, pumpkin carving demonstrations, a spooky art activity, games, creepy crawly animal encounters, pumpkin treats for the animals and more! The Great Pumpkin Pageant
Edaville Railroad, Carver
October 27th & 28th, 12-8pm
We’re dressing  our pumpkins up for Halloween and artfully displaying them around the  park.  Guests who dress themselves in  costume will receive a special gift at the front gate – and a rare opportunity  to trick or treat at Edaville.   Ride the  train, enjoy unlimited use of all amusement rides, and celebrate Halloween in a  fun yet safe environment.

Halloween Dress Rehearsal
Joe’s American Bar & Grill locations
October 27th & 28th
On October 27th and 28th, all Joe’s locations will host a Halloween Dress Rehearsal (because sometimes it’s just too hard to wait for Halloween to don your costume!) where kids in costume eat free with the purchase of an adult entrée. Also, on Saturday, October 27th, Joe’s will offer pumpkin painting at the restaurant’s Waterfront, Dedham, and Framingham locations from 11am to 4pm

The Pembroke Police Boys Club (start)

5K Road Race/Walk sponsored by Pembroke Education Foundation. Race starts at 9am at The Pembroke Police Boys Club. Come in costume if you’d like. More information to follow. REGISTRATION IS OPEN

4th Annual Haunted Hayride
Braintree Municipal Golf Course
Friday, October 28th from 6-9:30pm (rain date 10/29)

Every rider will get a free Halloween glow stick, and every child must be accompanied by an adult. This a cash-only ride and tickets are $10 for adults, $6 for children and free for those ages 3 and under.

Pru Boo Trick-or-Treat for Charity
The Shops at Prudential Center, Boston
Sunday, October 28th

The Shops at Prudential Center will host its annual Pru Boo indoor trick-or-treating and family fun event to benefit Room to Grow. Trick-or-treat and children’s activities from 11am–1pm, Vanessa Trien and the Jumping Monkeys performance at 2pm. $4 donatio

2nd Annual Halloween DJ Skate

Toe Jam will celebrate Halloween on Monday, October 29, at 10:30am & 12:30pm. Dress in your favorite costume and enjoy a spoooooktacular performance by Toe Jam. Toe Jam is $5/family plus zoo admission.

Make the Brockton Rox your first stop when trick-or-treating on Halloween night! Come by the Rox office between 3:30pm and 5:30pm for your chance to get some FREE TREATS and have your picture taken with K-O!

    • Yes, Sarah it is, but the hayrides sounded like a fun event and we wanted to include it anyway! It’s more of a not-here-but-near event.
