Family Karaoke Night

karaoke thumb Family Karaoke night, complete with music, games, raffles, face painting and Chinese food, how great does that sound?!  Even better, all that fun is in the name of charity.  On Sunday, March 24th from 2-6pm, the “Fab 5” 2013 Boston Marathon team, made up of 5 South Shore moms and dads, is hosting this Family Karaoke Night to support their amazing charity, the Michael Lisnow Respite Center

The Fab 5 is made up of runners Kerry Walker, Jenn Richardson, Brian Lang, Jeff Wright and Jenna Gomes, all parents to children 6 years old and younger.  {Read more about the team here}  Together they’ve made the commitment to raise $20k for the charity!  The event will take place at Quan’s Kitchen, located at 871 Washington Street in Hanover.  There is a recommended donation of $20 per family, and $10 per individual.

Born out of love, the Respite Center was founded in 1994 by Sharon Lisnow (mother of Michael) and Mary McQueeny.  Michael was born 16 weeks premature, weighing just over a pound.  He lived 10 years and is described as the joy of his family and a true fighter.  When his battled ended, the Center was born.  The mission of the Respite Center is to create a home away from home for children and adults with disabilities.  It offers day, overnight and weekend programs so that the families that lovingly care for these children can experience some much-needed time off from the emotional and physical care they provide.  Every dollar raised for this charity goes to a scholarship fund awarded directly to the families who cannot afford care.  Read more about the center here.
