Mini Vacation at Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club (Review)

Over February vacation week, my family took a much needed mini vacation at the Ocean Edge Resort in Brewster.  After seven feet of snow, and umpteen snow days, the idea of swimming in an indoor pool sounded like heaven.

Even covered in snow, Ocean Edge was beautiful.  The main building is gorgeous inside and out.  All of the staff at the resort were super friendly and helpful, and got us checked into our room ASAP.

The room.  Oh, the room!  We were given a beautiful suite, with enough room for all five of us to roam around comfortably.  There was a full kitchen, dining table with tons of seating, and a comfy living room area complete pullout sofa and a cozy gas fireplace.   The wrap around sliders opened up onto a patio area, and views of the resort as it stretched down towards the water.

The suite had a separate bedroom, (which my husband and I selfishly claimed), that I could’ve holed up in for a week!  Everything about it made us feel pampered, from the comfy bed, the huge closets for storing our stuff in, and the Tommy Bahama toiletries in the bathrooms.

Did I mention the separate fireplace in the bedroom?

After we settled in to our room, the kids could not wait to get to the indoor pool!  To be honest, we didn’t realize the walkways between buildings were outdoors, so we made our first trek to the pool in our suits (the pool is located in the West Wing, we were staying in the East Wing).  Rookie mistake.  From then on we made sure to wear pants…

The pool was perfect.  Towels were provided, and there are restrooms/changing rooms as well. Our only complaint is that the bathrooms were pretty small.  There was only one bathroom stall, which meant there was usually a line to get changed, since nobody was too excited to go back into the winter air in a wet suit.  This of course would not be a problem in warmer temps!

The theme of the week was “Frozen February Vacation”, and the resort had kid activities planned throughout the day, all week long, including:

  • Air hockey, ping pong, & foosball tournament
  • Cupcake Bar Happy Hour
  • Family Karaoke
  • Family Movie Night
  • Pool Pizza Party
  • Frozen Fixer Upper Sundaes
  • Outdoor Winter Olympics
  • Crafts
  • Family Yoga
  • Minute to Win It Games
  • Make Your Own Pizza
  • Pool games & races
  • Dance classes
  • Scavenger Hunt
  • Runway shows
  • and more!

My boys loved spending time in the kids kid’s center, playing ping pong and foosball. game room

We had a blast watching Kids Karaoke at night in the mansion ballroom. We weren’t brave enough to step up to the mic, but there was some serious talent there!

My daughter loved the lighthouse craft, just one of the  many projects the resort presented over the course of the week.

The resort offers a daily breakfast buffet in the Ocean Terrace, as well as lunch and dinner in Bayzo’s Pub.  We were treated to a complementary breakfast during our stay, and it was amazing!   We sat at the bay window overlooking the back terrace (the icy ocean is off in the distance).  I can only imagine how beautiful this space is in the summer!

Our stay was exactly what we needed to get out of the fun of being house bound for weeks.  I would highly recommend Ocean Edge for your family’s next mini getaway – be sure to check out what they’ve got planned for April Vacation!
