2016 Fall Festivals on the South Shore


Get ready to embrace fall with these fun, family friendly festivals happening all over the South Shore throughout September and October.

39th Annual Corn Festival
September 17 & 18, 10am-4pm
South Shore Natural Science Center
Join us as we celebrate the natural and cultural heritage of New England! Activities include hand drumming, pony rides, hay rides, 4-H animals, craft demonstrations, Big Ryan’s Tall Tales, live music, a corn pit, children’s activities, games and more.

South Shore Irish Festival
Sept 10 from 11am-10pm & Sept 11 from 11am-8pm
Marshfield Fairgrounds
Over 20 Irish bands and Irish step dancers on two stages, Irish vendors, Irish exhibits, children’s activities, food and beverages.  Plus a visit from a Patriots cheerleader and Pat the Patriot!  See website for full schedule and times.

Greek Festival
Sept 15-18
Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Brockton
Join us for Greek Festival 2016: Brockton, the Premier Greek Festival on the South Shore!  Featuring all your favorites: Baked Lamb, Pork and Chicken Souvlaki, Pastitsio, Moussaka, Spanakopita, Dolmathes and Gyros along with hand-made pastries and Loukoumathes!  Children’s Activities, Greek Shopping in our Marketplace, Church Tours, Live Greek Music, Greek Dancing Demonstrations and much more!  Take out will be available during lunch hours on Thursday and Friday.

Quincy Catholic Collaborative Carnival
Sept 15-18
St. Mary Parish Grounds, Quincy
Rides, games, food, entertainment.  Events include Irish Step Dancers (Friday 7pm), Kids Costume Parade & Contest (Saturday 2pm), Saturday evening concert with Parish Cantors (Saturday 6:30pm).

Endless Summer Waterfront Festival
Saturday, September 17, 12-5pm
Nantasket Beach, Hull
The Endless Summer Waterfront Festival is a free event hosted by the Hull Nantasket Chamber of Commerce. Endless Summer is a celebration of Hull’s great community of people, businesses, schools and town departments and is a reminder to everyone on the South Shore that Hull is open year round!  Rain Date Sept 18th.

Redbrook HarvestFest
Sept 17, 10am-3pm
Plymouth, MA
The Redbrook HarvestFest has become our signature kick-off to the cranberry harvest season! HarvestFest opens our first harvest of the Fall to the public with guided bog visits, live wet and dry harvest viewing, wagon rides, music, kayak tours offered by Nemasket Kayak, entertainment, refreshments, and vendors. The kids will have a great time with children’s activities offered by event partner the Old Colony YMCA at Redbrook.

27th Annual Autumn Fest
September 24, 10am-4pm
Bridgewater State University
Bring the whole family for a fun day filled with crafts, games, food, and music. It is attended annually by over 6000 people. This event is held rain or shine.  This great family day includes sampling the wonderful products and services our BBA members have to offer, delicious food and treats from local eateries, music and MC by JAS Productions, crafts and face painting, live demonstrations and activities, train rides, moon bounce, Barn Babies Petting Zoo, Joe’s Crazzy Critters, BSU Arts for Youth, the Bridgewater Fire Department smoke house, Bridgewater Police Department K-9 demo, Poppee the Clown, child ID digital photo and fingerprinting (with the Fellowship Lodge A.F. & A.M.), Stardust Gym… and much, much more!

Hanover 5th Annual Touch-A-Truck
September 24, 10am-4pm
Our 5th Annual Touch A Truck! Unofficially “the biggest” touch a truck in the area! Get up close to the big rigs that travel through our streets every day! This event features nearly 50 vehicles & other equipment from private and public sector organizations. The day will also have around two-dozen vendors and other participants offering family-friendly services and activities. There will be food, beverages and snacks for purchase. Activities include bounce houses, balloon artists, face painting, music, and more! The Hanover Police offer car seat safety information and the Plymouth County Sheriff offers Child Safe ID Kits. Event features our ladder truck candy drop and a few other surprises!

Family Field Day at South Shore Medical Center
September 25, 11am-2pm
This outdoor event is open to the public with fun activities for all ages.  Test your athletic abilities and challenge yourself on a variety of events; Inflatable rock wall, Measure your pitch speed, Basketball shooting challenge, Football target toss, Putting challenge, Memory games, and more!  Don’t miss your chance to Dunk a Doc in the Dunk Tank!

Harvest Festival at Lightning Willow Farm
September 25, 12-6pm
We are very excited to open up our small family farm to the community for the first time! The Gaffney family has been restoring this historic property for the last 8 years, and although there’s always more to finish, we’d love you to come see what we’re all about and share in the fun!  There will be an herbal infusion demonstration at 1pm, where you can try your hand at creating your own healing oil. We will be doing milking demonstrations throughout the day. Watch us milk a goat, ask questions, even try it out if you’d like! Feed chickens and ducks on your way down to our wooded acreage where the happy goats and bunnies live. Listen to music, eat great food from local vendors, pet the goats, or just take a stroll around the farm and take in the sights of this beautiful season!

Family Fun & Wellness Festival
September 26, 10am-2pm
Join us for a FREE day of health, wellness and family fun! Local vendors, food, childrens activities, massage, reiki, acupuncture, chiropractic evaluations, workshops and lots of fun!  Live music by off Broadway performer Nicholas Cox!  With a children’s Sing-A-Long at 10:30am.  Storytime and Q&A with Dr. Amanda, pediatric Chiropractor at 11am .

Marshfield Oktoberfest
October 1, 12-5pm
Marshfield Fairgrounds
Join us for a day of fall family fun at the Marshfield Fairgrounds. There will be lots of food and activities for all ages. This event highlights: live music, an inflatable park, a marketplace of local artisans, children’s activities & more!

Mad Love Music Festival
October 9, 11am-5pm
South Shore Conservatory, Hingham

Mad Love Music Festival is a one day celebration taking place on October 9, 2016 at South Shore Conservatory in Hingham, Massachusetts.  This outdoor festival features local musicians, food, drink and activities for the whole family.  Proceeds from the event benefit the Dave Jodka Scholarship for Future Rockers at SSC, enabling students from all backgrounds to experience the love of music that Dave inspired in his family and in his life.

Fall Harvest Celebration
October 12nd
Patriot Place, Foxboro
The 7th annual Fall Harvest Celebration begins behind Bass Pro Shops as Ocean Spray harvests the real working cranberry bog at Patriot Place.  The day is filled with fall activities for all ages including hayrides, pumpkin painting, live music, a visit from the Patriot Cheerleaders, a Taste of Patriot Place, and more!

Abington Oktoberfest
October 14, 15 & 16
Something new and different will be happening in Abington over the weekend of October 15 and 16. “Abington Celebrates” is planning a Town-wide OKTOBERFEST. One of the events being held on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. is a Fall Marketplace at the United Church of Christ in Abington located at 10 Bedford Street.  The Fall Marketplace will also include a giant raffle, fresh produce, home-baked items and the U.C.C. famous chowder at the snack bar. For the children there will be face-painting and story-telling. The new Thrift Shop will feature a sale along with bargain items of all descriptions in the Thrift Shop Annex.
Admission to the Marketplace is free.

Fall for Scituate
October 16, 11am-4pm
The 5th annual Fall for Scituate is a Family Friendly Fall Celebration in North Scituate Village, hosted this year by the North Scituate Merchants, has something for everyone . Start the day off with a meet and greet with Cinderela. The kiddos will enjoy the Toe Jam Puppet Band Halloween show. Don’t forget to wear a costume. Everyone will enjoy the music of the Infractions. Take a Hay Ride and swaddle baby animals in our Petting Zoo. Enter the Ice Cream Eating contest and have fun in the bouncey houses, Browse over 2 dozen local artisans in our Artisans Marketplace. Many of your favorites are returning along with lots of new artisans. What’s for lunch? Burgers, Wood FIred Pizza or some Gourmet Mac & Cheese. Top it off with a hot cider donut, fresh fudge, a Smackadoddle treat or just snack on popcorn, cotton candy, ice cream or a sno cone. Face Painting, Balloon Animals, Craft Table and so much more…… Come early and spend the day. Before you leave take a moment and visit The North Scituate Village and see how much they have to offer.

Norwell Police 5K and Touch-A-Truck Event
October 22, 9am

Join the Norwell Police for a 5K run/walk from the Norwell High School, followed by a fun run and Touch-A-Truck event including K-9 Demonstration and Fingerprinting. Race proceeds support Cops for Kids with Cancer and the Norwell Veterans Fund.
